Seasoned, contemporary, Canadian artist,
Karen Phillips Curran
brings a wealth of experience to her artwork.
I have always been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of the moment. It is why I work in series. It's also why I paint in watercolours. With whatever medium I am using, I tell visual stories of watersides, of elusive dancing shadows on textured surfaces, or of fleeting vignettes that render a tale of the landscape of Nova Scotia and the people who live here...
welcome
Bear River, Nova Scotia Canada is a unique tidal river village.
Here, I welcome you to Riverstones Studio.
Overlooking the valley I continue to create exciting new artwork in a variety of mediums and sizes.
I've made my living as an artist since 1974; painting in watercolours, acrylics, latex, oils, pastels, inks, and pencil, as well as using alternative photographic methods and collage to create mixed media. A lifelong explorer, my imagery and mediums change along with time and tide.
My years of theatre set painting has embedded a sense of monumentality in my work. Minimalism and clarity is my stylistic moniker.
